Fatherlessness
Fatherlessness is one of the defining crises of our time. A father is meant to be a household's first role model: its leader, protector, and example of sacrificial love. When that role is absent or abdicated, sons grow up without a pattern to imitate, and households drift without anyone to lead them. A people cannot be led well if there is no one willing to lead.

The Father's Role in Faith
The data is striking. A 40 year Oxford University Press study following over 3,000 adults across 350 families found that the single biggest predictor of whether someone practiced their faith as an adult was whether they described having a warm, close relationship with their father. This echoes earlier research: a 1994 Swiss survey found that when both parents attended religious services regularly, 33% of their children became regular churchgoers for life, with another 41% attending irregularly, but when fathers were absent from that practice, the numbers collapsed. A father who leads, in presence and in prayer, doesn't just shape his own soul. He shapes the spiritual future of everyone under his roof.

Men, Work, and a Changing Culture
Many men today face a quieter pressure: workplaces, institutions, and public life that are growing less tolerant of Christian conviction. Holding to faith and values that were once unremarkable can now cost a man relationships, reputation, or career opportunities. Navigating this without compromising who you are, and who you are called to be, is one of the defining challenges facing Catholic men today.
